A resounding success in Valencia: The Evandro de Oliveira Legacy course sets a new standard in neurosurgical training

From June 28th to July 3rd, 2025, neurosurgeons from around the world (including Ecuador, Mexico, Argentina, India, Germany, Brazil, and Italy) gathered in Valencia, Spain, for a truly exceptional training experience: “Anatomy Applied to Neurosurgery: The Evandro de Oliveira Legacy. Microneurosurgical & Endoscopic Hands-on Course.”

Directed by Dr. Vicent Quilis-Quesada (Head of Neurosurgery at the University Clinical Hospital of Valencia and Associate Professor at the University of Valencia), and co-directed by Ali F. Krisht (USA), Juan Carlos Fernández-Miranda (USA), Wen Hung Tzu (Brazil), Carolina Martins (Brazil), Mateus Reghin (Brazil), and Pablo Rubino (Argentina). The course also featured an outstanding international faculty that included Kumar Abhinav (United Kingdom) and Marcello D’Andrea (Italy).

This intensive hands-on course honored the legacy of Dr. Evandro de Oliveira, whose philosophy of precision, passion, and excellence continues to inspire generations of neurosurgeons. Participants consistently highlighted the cadaver lab practice, live dissections, and step-by-step anatomical demonstrations as the most impactful elements. Many praised the close interaction with internationally renowned speakers, the clarity of the anatomical instruction, and the high quality of both materials and organization.

The course was structured in three core modules:
Microsurgical Neuroanatomy – Focused dissections of sulci, gyri, ventricles, and their surgical relevance.
Endoscopic Neurosurgery – Hands-on exploration of endonasal and skull base approaches.
Microneurosurgery – Advanced techniques including pterional, pretemporal, and transcavernous approaches.

The event also featured live demonstrations, and a highly immersive environment designed to elevate surgical understanding and precision.

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many describing it as “exceptional,” “beautifully organized,” and “one of the best educational experiences” of their careers. “The quality of the speakers, the hands-on practice, and the organization were world-class. A tribute worthy of Dr. Evandro de Oliveira's name.”

We look forward to welcoming you next year for the upcoming edition of the course in Valencia.
