9th Mapping Course: Neuropsychological Assistance Workshop 2026

COURSE AIMED AT

The course is directed to Neuropsychologists, Psychologists, Speech Therapists, Therapists, Nurses, Neurosurgeons, and all professionals involved in the peri- and intra-operative (neuro) psychological assistance.

 STUDENT AWARD REQUEST FOR NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL ASSISTANCE WORKSHOP

This year, the Organizing Committee of the 8th Mapping Course "Neuropsychological Assistance Workshop", has the pleasure to offer 3 students awards for the full 3-days long participation in the course.
The candidates should register their documentation before July 31st, 2026.

There are three modalities of the award:

1. For one national student (Spain) - free enrolment, courtesy of the Organizing Committee (no travel or accommodation covered).
2. For one international student from any country in the world - free enrolment, courtesy of the Organizing Committee (no travel or accommodation covered).
3. For one European Student from widening* countries - full travel award (enrolment, travel and accommodation covered, Grant CEX2021-001159-M founded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033/, courtesy of the Institute of Neurosciences of the University of Barcelona and the Organizing Committee).

Important note: the country considered for determining the type of scholarship is the country in which the applicant's university is located.

For all of them, we will require: Student’s certificate, CV and a motivation letter (max 500 words) explaining why we should choose you as an awardee.

COURSE ACCREDITATION

An application has been made to the UEMS EACCME® for CME/CPD accreditation of this event.
In case the participant attended the full on-site course, he/she would have two diplomas.

• Theoretical framework behind awake brain surgery: from historical to contemporary models. Anna Gasa-Roqué / Dr. Joanna Sierpowska
• How to define a candidate for an awake brain surgery? Rapid fire Q & A session with Dr. Andreu Gabarrós (Chief of the Neurosurgery Department of the University Hospital of Bellvitge) about the dialogue between neurosurgeons and neuropsychologists in presurgery preparation. Moderators: Anna Gasa-Roqué / Dr. Joanna Sierpowska
• Neuropsychological assessment of glioma patients undergoing awake brain surgery in the left-dominant hemisphere: before and after surgery. Anna Gasa-Roqué
• From design to implementation: validating and adapting intraoperative tasks through “de novo” development and linguistic tailoring to participant profiles. Deva Álvarez / Dr. Joanna Sierpowska
• Crash course in psychometrics: understanding what the results mean for each person given their profile. Anna Gasa-Roqué / Dr. Laura Maldonado-Murciano
• Discussion panel: Design, assessment, and interpretation of neuropsychological domains before, during, and after the surgery.
• Precision medicine: personalized electrical stimulation mapping tasks for tumor resection. Víctor Cepero / Dr. Xim Cerdà-Company
• Workshop 1 Cognitive and language assessment before and after surgery. Neuropsychological battery of tests, scoring and interpretation for patients with tumors located in the left-dominant hemisphere. Instructors: Dr. Joanna Sierpowska / Anna Gasa-Roqué
• Workshop 1 wrap-up and discussion.
• Workshop 2 Cortical and white matter mapping and intraoperative monitoring by clinical cases - hands-on intraoperative evaluation and scoring based on live surgeries (video material). Instructors: Anna Gasa-Roqué / Dr. Joanna Sierpowska
• Workshop 2 wrap-up and discussion
• Keynote Speaker: Mapping right hemisphere functions with direct electrostimulation: current practice and future directions. Dr. Guillaume Herbet
